Since 1504, but

not from yesterday.

Once upon a time
and will be for
a long time.

This is a story that goes back over 400 years and has shaped the lives of many people during this time. It begins in a world that is often no longer known today. In a time that our hotel is always happy to tell us about.

The Posthotel was first mentioned in the 15th century. This makes our hotel one of the oldest buildings in the center of Strengen. In the 17th and 18th centuries, it housed the Widum, an inn and the local post office with stables. At the end of the 18th century, the house came into the possession of the Haueis family, who turned it into an inn with a bowling alley and ran it from 1964 to 1999.

In 1999, the house was rebuilt, the rooms of the original inn were renovated and a hotel was opened. An extension was added in 2005; the bowling alley was converted into a hotel.

An extension was added in 2005; the bowling alley was converted into a hotel.

In 2009, the hotel was leased to the Engl family.

In 2014, Werner Flunger from St. Anton bought the hotel and leased the “Gasthaus zur Post” to the former owner Edi Haueis.

In June 2023, Edi Haueis took his well-deserved retirement.

Since June 2023, the Flunger family has been running the hotel and restaurant itself.

Despite several renovations and new buildings, care was taken to preserve the old values of the hotel and combine them with new elements. Contemporary comfort combined with rustic vaulted ceilings and the architecture of yesteryear creates a very special atmosphere.

We had a warm welcome. The sauna area is great to relax after skiing. The restaurant is quite good, we had dinner there almost every evening. 20-min drive to St Anton, 30 to Ischgl, nearly 40 to Lech.
Hotel: Very clean as usual for Austria. Sauna. Restaurant with terrace. Staff: Very friendly staff. Food: Good food, huge portions. Buffet in the morning. Location: Location is ok, but not more. Directly at the street, but there is hardly any traffic in summer.
People who work here are great! Reception, bar and restaurant staff are all extremely nice. Very kind, professional and helpful. Our room was spacious and warm, good mattresses too. This was a good stay, would come back. Location is ok - convenient. In theory a bus goes to St Anton every hour.
